Funeral services for Eric Weldon Christian Jr., 67, of Emory were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, Sept. 12, at Emory Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Smith and Rev. Joe Perkins officiating. Burial was in Dougherty Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harold Thompson, Clyde Dennis, Homer Robertson, Billy Ivie, Ernest Cain, and Clinton Lennon. Mr. Christian died Saturday, September 10, at Baylor Medical Center of Dallas. He was born on Oct. 30, 1937, in Plain Dealing, Bossier Parrish, La., to Eric Weldon and Emma Lynney Deavers Christian Sr. He married Loretta Sue Potts on Nov. 19, 1955, in Hugo, Okla. He retired after 30 years as a director of Aircraft Production. He was a member of Emory Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Loretta Christian of Emory; sons, Johnny Weldon Christian and Jeffrey Glenn Christian, both of Emory; daughter, Frances Lynn Sparks and husband Stephen of Miller Grove; several grandchildrden and great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne Franklin Dodson of Emory; sister, Sandra Kay Yager of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews and a multitude of other family and friends.
