The graves in the McBride cemetery were moved when the dam at Lake Tawakoni was build on FM 47 in Rains Co.; otherwise, the cemetery would have been under water. The graves in this family cemetery were removed to the Bright Star Cemetery which is located 2.6 miles past the Rains/Van Zandt Co. line on FM 47 inside Van Zandt County. A marker with the following inscription is located in the northeast corner of the Bright Star Cemetery. There are other graves in the Bright Star Cemetery with individual markers which have the "McBride" name engraved on them.
Four known and eight-two unknown persons formerly buried in the McBride family cemetery."
