CARTHAGE — Graveside services for Linda Jean Jennings, 50, of Tatum will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, in Harris Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Culley and the Rev. Gary Orr officiating. Services are under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mrs. Jennings died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview.
Mrs. Jennings was born Jan. 19, 1952, in Roswell, N.M., at Walker Air Force Base to Elmer Arthur and Elizabeth Jane Shank Mayfield. She started schools in Germany as an “Army brat” and graduated from Longview High School with the Class of 1970. On Feb. 11, 1980, she married Stephen Jennings, and together they celebrated 22 years of marriage.
Linda loved and cared for many animals and her flower gardens.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Jane Shank Mayfield; brother, Elmer Arthur Mayfield Jr.; and infant son Arther R. Foster.
Survivors include her grandmother, Hazel Booth of Beckville; her father, Elmer Mayfield, and his wife, Gloria, of Beckville; her husband, Stephen Jennings of Tatum; one daughter, Misty Jennings of Dallas; six sisters, June Grattan of Salt Lake City, Ruth Parker and her husband, Lance, of Huntington, Sandra Garcia of Pampa, Deborah Guillotte and her husband, Richard, of Jacksonville, Briley Dailey and her husband, Bill, of Beckville and Glynna Reser and her husband, Kevin, of Boerne; an uncle, Jack Booth and his wife, Joann, of Beckville; a great-uncle, Dennis Mayfield and his wife, Nell, of Marshall; three aunts, Dottie Rostawiche of Pineville, La., Cindy Ilharreguy of Anaheim, Calif., and Bertha Mayfield of Santa Fe, N.M.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.
Viewing begins at noon today, Oct. 12, at the funeral home with the family receiving friends 6-8 p.m. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
