This Cemetery is located off SH
59 about 8 miles north of Carthage, turn right on 1794. Continue about 8
miles to FM 1186 turn left , in about 2 miles take CR 314 to the
right The cemetery is located about 1 mile on CR 314 on the left. It is
fenced and contains only one marked grave. There is a pipe that shows
another grave plus 2 or 3 sinks, if any one has any information on this Cemetery,

Texas Cav CSA Some time before 1850( Panola
Co. Census), Mary Carter moved to TX with sons, Martin 21 years old,
Wade H. 17 years old and daughter, Elizabeth 10 years old.
Mary was 65 years old and born in Tennessee. On the 1870 Census Mary
(b.1808 - d. after 1870) was living next door to Wade and Martha. Between 1860-1865, Wade
joined Moore's 17th Texas Cavalry, Confederate as a Private. After the
War, Wade returned to Panola Co. and on Jan 10 1867 married Martha Martin.
They had at least 2 boys and 1 girl. Peter Franklin Carter Dec 20
1889 died Oct 03 1965 and Buried in Shady Grove Cemetery. Remained Single William Carter born Mar
1876 died 1908 and Buried in Shady Grove Cemetery Carrie Carter Weber born Mar 13
1870 died Jun 10 1960 and Buried in Shady Grove Cemetery At this time, the burial places
for Mary Carter, mother of Wade and Martha Martin Carter, wife of Wade, is
not known to me at this time. Perhaps they are buried in this Carter Cemetery.
