Louis Marshall Jr. (Greenville Herald Banner, Friday, August 8, 1997, A:2)

Louis P. Marshall, Jr., of Greenville died Wednesday at his residence. Funeral services are at the Coker-Matthews Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. today with Rev. Bill Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery.

Son of Louis P. Marshall, Sr. and Stella Stevenson Marshall, he was born in Campbell on Aug. 2, 1928. He married Dorothy Jean Evans Sampson in Rockwall on Jan. 24, 1985. He was a veteran of World War II; he served in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Navy. Marshall retired from E-Systems. He was a Baptist.

Surviving are his wife of Greenville; a stepson, James Sampson of Merit; a daughter, Melanie Jones of Mabelville, Ark.; a stepdaughter, Beverly Blankenship of Merit; a brother, James G. Marshall of Greenville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Ben Marshall, in 1990.

Pallbearers will be David Sampson, Pete Fletcher, Bobby Trad, Steve Price, James Sampson and Frankie Blankenship. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles E. Orr and Kenneth Thomason.
