Wolfe City-Kathleen Butler Owens, 77, of Mesquite, a longtime resident of Wolfe City, died Sunday following a lenghty illness. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Wolfe City with Rev. Robert Butler and Rev. Kevin Mitchell officiating. Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
The daughter of Roy L. and Ethel Stokes Butler, she was born Oct. 10, 1921 in Leonard. She and Sim Francis Owens Jr. were married Oct. 14, 1939 in Leonard. She was a member of Hickory Creek Baptist Church in the Hickory Creek Community. Mrs. Owens was a homemaker.
Surviving are two sons, Dwight R. Owens of Carmel, Ind. and Paul F. Owens of Mesquite; a daughter, Judith Gail Luttrell of Jefferson; her mother of Whitney; three sisters, Glenna Patterson of Salinia, Colo., Nell Street of Fort Worth and Elsie Dotson of Kerrville; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Kenneth Thornton, Joel Thornton, Gerald Owens, Paul Lyon, Jimmy Felty, and Ernest Norris. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City.
