Billy Jones

GARLAND - Billy Howard Jones, 68, died Tuesday at his home. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is at 4 p.m. in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City.

He was born Aug. 20, 1931 in Bailey, attended school in Wolfe City and graduated from Garland High School in 1949.

Mr. Jones was a member of First Baptist Church of Garland for more than 50 years.

He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Rochester from 1950-1954 as a Quartermaster and was a lifetime member of the VFW Chapter.

He was employed at Dallas Power & Light Company in 1949 and retired as a foreman for the company in 1986. After his retirement he owned and operated a local fence company.

Surviving are his wife, Billie Jones; children Bill H. Jones Jr. of San Francisco, Calif., Dorothy Tucker of Garland, Julie Goforth of Athens and Connie Bell and Randy Walker of Garland; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Veta Morgan Jones.

Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 716 Main, in Garland.
