Benton Marshall (Greenville Herald Banner, Tuesday, October 23, 1990)

            Benton Crockett Marshall, of Longmont, Colo., died Saturday morning in VA Hospital in Denver.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Forest Park Cemetery.  Father Douglas Deshotel will officiate.

            Born on July 22, 1948, in Greenville, he was the son of Louis and Better Kees Marshall.  Mr. Marshall was a Vietnam veteran serving in the Marine Corps; a correctional officer for the Sate of Colorado and a Catholic.

            Surviving are his father, Louis Marshall of Greenville; his mother, Better Newberry of Greenville; three sons, Sean Marshall of Carrollton, Alexander Marshall and Justin Marshall, both of Colorado; two brothers, Cole Newberry of Dallas and Joey Newberry of Austin; one sister, Melanie Jones of Little Rock, Ark.; a grandmother, Stella Morrison of Greenville; a grandfather, Raymond Crockett of Lake Tawakoni; one aunt, Carole Sampson and an uncle, James Marshall, both of Greenville.

            Dave Sampson, Paul Sampson, Steve Price, Bobby Trad, Ronnie King and Frankie Blakeship will serve as pallbearers.
