COMMERCE — Stanford Talley, 59, of Commerce died Sept. 5, 2006, at
Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce. Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Friday
at Cross Trails Church in Fairlie with Pastor Jeff Bishop and Rev. Wesley
McCaslin officiating. Burial is at Talley Cemetery on County Road 4400 in
Commerce. The son of Buddy and Lila Lee Cox Talley, he was born April 24,
1947, in Commerce. He married Lorena Wells on June 9, 1967, in
Greenville. Mr. Talley was employed at Tyco for 25 years. He was a
member of Cross Trails Cowboy Church which he loved and where he was an
elder. He enjoyed hunting Elk deer, coyotes and coons and also enjoyed
fishing, riding horses, raising cows. Mr. Talley loved preparing food
for church socials and loved witnessing for the Lord. He is survived by
his mother, Lila Lee Talley McGinn of Commerce; his wife of Commerce; two
sons, Steven Talley and wife Macy of Aberfoyle and John Talley and wife
Kelly of Commerce; a daughter, Michelle Basham and husband Chris of
Commerce; seven grandchildren, Logan Talley, Brooklyn Talley, Olivia
Talley, Connor Talley, Anna Cate Talley, Brittney Basham and Hayly Basham;
his mother-in-law, Jean Wells of Greenville; brother and sister-in-law
Levoy and Brenda Wells of Greenville; and many friends whom he loved very
much.
His father and his father-in-law, Robert Wells, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers are Leo Rawlings, Jimmy Don Stanley, Chester Debord, Larry
Thompson, Roy Lemons, Jimmy Jenkins, Billy Jenkins and Bill Ross. Honorary
pallbearers are Ronnie Maxwell, Glen Campbell, Jerry Cox, Charlie Hines,
Ray Brown, Terry Holley, Mike Crowell, Carr Newkirk, and lay pastors of
Cross Trails Cowboy Church. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at
Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home of Commerce.
