Dorothy O. Brand (Terrell Tribune, May 4, 1981)

            Mrs. Dorothy Opal Brand, resident of Fruitvale, Texas was fatally injured in an automobile accident in Van Zandt County Saturday.  Funeral services will be held from the Anderson-Clayton Chapel in Terrell at 2 p.m. Tuesday.  Interment will be in the McBride Cemetery in Hunt County.

            Mrs. Brand, a daughter of the late Kirtsy Garrett and Cora Leona Haward Garrett, was born in Kaufman County on Aug. 7, 1925.  She grew up in this area and has been a resident of Fruitvale for the last 10 years.

            She was a member of the Baptist Church.

            Surviving her are:  her husband, Elmer Brand of Fruitvale; four daughters, Mrs. Jerry Baker and Ida M. Baker, both of Terrell, Ruthie Morgan of Como and Betty Ann Morgan of Grand Saline; three sons, Billy R. Brand of Terrell, Larry Brand and Charles Brand, both of Fruitvale; 16 grandchildren; three brothers, Johnny Garrett of Odessa, Holton Garrett of Quinlan and Matt Garrett of Terrell; three sisters, Eva Slaughter of Odessa, Nadine Slaughter and Beatrice Robertson, both of Terrell; a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
