Leon D Alford, 1926 - 1999
GLADEWATER - Services for Mr. Leon D Alford, 72 of Liberty City were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jake WOMMER Officiating.
Burial was at Winterfield Cemetery in Hopkins County near
Pickton where a graveside service was held at 3 p.m.
Mr. Alford died Wednesday June 30, 1999, in a Longview hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Linna "Joey" ALFORD,
Liberty City: a son and Daughter-in-law, Terry & Mary ALFORD, White Oak; a daughter,
Helen TIDWELL, Dallas; a stepson, Ty WEEKS, Longview; a sister, Clara Lee EDWARDS, Sulphur
Springs; a brother, James ALFORD, Sulphur Springs; 6 grandchildren; and 2
great-grandchildren.
Mr. Alford was preceded in death by a stepson, Dewayne WEEKS.
He was born in Pickton on July 21, 1926 to Sid & Valeria ALFORD. He attended LeTourneau University. A self-employed welder, he was a retired foreman for LeTourneau Inc.
Pallbearers were Dale PARKER, Terry DURR, Randy WHATLEY,
Bluford WAITS, Glenn TURNER and Jeff WAITS.

LIBERTY CITY - Mr. Leon D. Alford, Age 72, of Liberty City, passed away June 30 at a Longview hospital.
He was born July 21, 1926, in Pickton, to Sid and Valeria Alford. Mr. Alford had attended LeTourneau University and was a retired foreman for LeTourneau, Inc. He was a self-employed welder and had served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his step-son, Dewayne Weeks, and his parents.
Funeral services for Mr. Alford were Held July 3 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel, With Reverend Jake Wommer officiating. Burial was in the Winterfield Cemetery, in Pickton, with Dale Parker, Terry Durr, Randy Whatley, Bluford Waits, Glenn Turner and Jeff Waits serving as pallbearers. Croley Funeral Home, in Gilmer was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Alford is survived by: his wife, Linna "Joey" Alford of Liberty City; son and daughter-in-law - Terry and Mary Alford of White Oak; daughter, Helen Tidwell of Dallas; step-son, Ty Weeks of Longview; six grandchildren - Russell Alford, Ricky Loyd, Dusty Alford, Brandon Tidwell, Melissa Tidwell and Todd Weeks; two great-grandchildren: sister, Clara Lee Edwards of Sulphur Springs; and Brother, James Alford of Sulphur Springs.
