Funeral services for Billie Jan Speed, 62, of Peerless were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 30, in the West Oaks Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Nesbitt and Rev. Larry Jordan officiating.  Burial followed in the Peerless Cemetery. Pallbearers were Elbert Pete Virgil, Terry Wayne Virgil, Glenn Hahn, Paul Pogue, Mike Sellers, and Tommy Sanderson. Honorary pallbearers were Coey Golightly (in memory of him), Russell Skeen, and Jerry C. Ferrell.  Billie passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2004, in the Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.   She was born on May 11, 1942, in Delta County to Guy and Bertha Johnson Parnell.  She married Billy Don Speed on June 24, 1961.  She was the mother of two sons, Terry Don Speed and wife Bonnie, and Mark Speed and wife Dena; sisters, Marilyn McQueen, Nola DeVaun, Martha Joe Norrid, Peggy Palmer; brother, John Parnell; grandchildren, Melanie and Chasity Speed, Dustin Speed and wife Sirena; three step-grandchildren, Angela Robbins, Jeremy Thompson, and Caitlyn Thompson; and great-grandchild, Harley Cate Speed.  She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a brother, Wayne Parnell.
