Ruby Dickens (Sulphur Springs News Telegram, June 14, 2004)
Funeral services for Ruby Dickens, 94, of Cumby will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Moore officiating.
Burial will follow at Brashear Cemetery with Terry Tate, Kyle Tate, Cole Burnett, Gary Mayers, Steve Mooney and Doyle Wood serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, June 14, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Dickens died at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 12, at Carriage House Manor Nursing Home.
She was born on Nov. 27, 1909, in the Miller Grove community, to William and Dora Vick Proctor. She married Leslie Dickens on June 25, 1925, in Miller Grove. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1998.
Mrs. Dickens was a homemaker.
She was a member of Center Point Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Trudy Mayers and husband, Harold of Sulphur Springs; one grandson, Terry Tate of Sulphur Springs; one granddaughter, Cindy Patrick of Dallas; three step-grandchildren, Gary Mayers and his wife, Ruthie, Denise LaFlamme and Wayne Mayers and wife, Wendy, all of Sulphur Springs; two great-grandchildren, Kyle Tate and wife, Michele and Cole Burnett, all of Sulphur Springs; and three great-great grandchildren, Chance Massey and Morgan and Chase Mayers, all of Sulphur Springs.
Mrs. Dickens was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Otha Proctor, Haskell Proctor and Orville Proctor; and four sisters, Mattie Dannel, Alma Pair, Bertha Irons and an infant sister, Nellie.
