Mattie Johnson (Greenville Herald Banner, January 1, 1929, A:2)

Mattie I. Johnson, 89, of Greenville, died Friday night in Citizens General Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Park Street Baptist Church with Rev. B.J. Bell officiating. Burial will be in Miller Grove Cemetery.

She was born in Hunt County on Dec. 22, 1899, to W.B. and Ella Roark Akers. She married Otha Lee Johnson in Hunt County.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her son, Charles Johnson of Greenville; two daughters, Dorothy Tucker of Cumby and Helen Williams of Greenville; one brother, John Akers of Dallas; three sisters, Lois Cowser, Mrs. O.P. Alexander and Bessie Akers, all of Greenville; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and one sister.

Pallbearers will be sons-in-law and nephews.

Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
