Mrs. Walter Johnson, 73, of Miller Grove died Sunday at 5:45 p.m. in the Hopkins County Nursing Home.

Born on May 19, 1901, she was the daughter of J.M. and Ida Downing McGowan. The former Lillie Mae McGowan, she married Walter Johnson on May 25, 1919 in Miller Grove. She was a member of the Miller Grove Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Walter Freeman Johnson, Jr., of Miller Grove; three brothers, Jesse M. McGowan of Belleville, Bascom McGowan of Miller Grove, Charles Dexter McGowan of Dallas, a sister Oleta Hogan of Fort Worth; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Miller Grove Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert Ridley officiating. Burial will be in the Miller Grove Cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the family residence in Miller Grove until 1 p.m. Tuesday.
