Rites Conducted for Jim Bishop (Sulphur Springs News Telegram, July 5, 1971)
Funeral services for Jim Bone Bishop, 64, of Route 2, Cumby, were held at 10:30 a.m. July 7 at the Presbyterian Church in Miller Grove with the Rev. Robert Ridley and the Rev. Cecil T. Baker officiating.
Burial was in Miller Grove Cemetery. The Cumby Masonic lodge No. 180 conducted graveside services.
Mr. Bishop died at 6:45 p.m. July 5 in Baylor Hospital, Dallas.
Born April 19, 1907, in Hopkins County, he was the son of Henry Arthur and Lillie Bone Bishop. He married Jennie Maud Preston on Oct. 6, 1934 in Campbell.
He was an employee of Oaks Manor Nursing Home in Commerce and was a land owner and cattleman. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Cumby Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Ruby Ann Ross of Dallas; a son, Jim Bob Bishop of Cumby; three brothers, Earl Bishop of Dallas and Worth and Jack Bishop, both of Fort Worth; and four granddaughters, Kay, Lisa, Judy and Jana.
Pallbearers were Truman Renshaw, Leon Renshaw, Raymon Bishop, Fred Moseley, Jr., Neal Preston and Carroll Renshaw.
W.Y. Goff Funeral Home of Commerce was in charge of arrangements.
