Brady, Hannah - 1847 - 1935 - Obituary - Mrs. Hannah Brady, age 88, mother of Claud Galloway of Sulphur Springs, died Saturday morning at her home near Liberty of pneumonia. Funeral services and burial took place at Liberty. She was born at Burnsville, Indiana, in 1847. Her maiden name was Hannah Leach, daughter of Ruben Leach. She married Thomas McGarry, a Federal soldier in 1864. He died in 1870, leaving her with three small children. She married Thomas Galloway in 1874. They, along with a number of relatives, moved to Denmask, White County, Arkansas, in 1878. Her smallest child was a month old when they started on the trip. It took a month to make the trip in covered wagons. Her husband, Thomas, died in 1883, leaving her with two more small children. She was then married to Tom Mitchell about 1885. He lived only two weeks. In 1895, she married N. E. Brady, a former chaplain in the Confederate Army, and a Methodist preacher. He died in 1899 (sic). She came to Hopkins county in 1898 (sic) with her youngest son, J. C. Galloway, settling one and half miles north of Liberty, and was living on this home place when she died August 3, 1935. She is survived by one son, J. C. Galloway, Sulphur Springs, and two daughters, Mrs. Dorsey Smith, Sulphur Springs, and Mrs. Geo. W. Brinkley, Boswell, Oklahoma.

Gunnels, P. W. - b. 30 Oct. 1861, d. 9 Feb. 1939 (Obituary - P. W. Gunnels, age 77 years, well known Hopkins County man, succumbed at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. A. Roach, on Finney street, in Sulphur Springs, Thursday morning. Mr. Gunnels, a native of Georgia, came to Hopkins County about 35 years ago, and for the past five years had been living in Sulphur Springs. He was born Oct. 30, 1861. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. L. A. Roach, Sulphur Springs, and Mrs. Mamie Crabb, Commerce, and one son, Warren Gunnels, Dallas. Funeral services will be held at Liberty with Dr. H. R. Long, pastor of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, in charge. Burial will follow at Liberty.

Hamrick (Obituary - Mrs. Emma Hamrick, widow of Dave Hamrick, living near Bonanza, was shot and perhaps fatally wounded Thursday, when a 22 caliber rifle in the hand of her son was accidentally discharged, the bullet striking her above the right hip and passing through the lower bowels. Drs. Kemper and Davis were summoned, and found the wound to be serious. Dr. W. W. Long was called in and performed an operation, removing part of the injured intestine. She died on Friday night, Jan. 10, 1914. Elmer was helping his mother with the washing when he saw a chicken hawk after the chickens. He went in the house and got the rifle but when he returned the hawk was gone. His hands being wet when he started to let the hammer down, he let it slip and the gun was discharged. She was laid to rest in the Liberty cemetery.)

Hall, Lawrence W. - 1845 - 1913 (Obituary - Lawrence W. Hall was born in Columbiana, Alabama, on May 8, 1845. When four years of age he moved with his parents to Arkansas where he grew to manhood. He entered the Confederate Army and served through the war near Little Rock. He moved to Texas in 1865 or 1866, and settled near Linden in Cass County. Married Miss Mary A. Barnes in 1867, who died in 1872. To this union two children were born, Thomas P. Hall and Mrs. Ellen Williams who survive him. In 1883, he moved to Arbala, Hopkins County, and in 1890 (sic,) he married Miss Mattie Coopland (sic.) On April 27, 1913, surrounded by his family, his spirit took it departure and returned to God who gave it. Funeral services were conducted by Eld. Gilbert, assisted by the pastor, Eld. Cameron. The remains were laid to rest in the Liberty cemetery. When he was eigheen he joined the Salem Missionary Baptist church in Cass County, and was a member of the Arbala Baptist church.)
Hall, Mattie J. - 1860 - 1935 (Obituary - Mrs. Mattie Hall, age 74, widow of Lawrnce W. Hall, pioneer of Hopkins County, died at the family residence in arbala community May 30, 1935. Miss Mattie Copeland (sic) was born in Harrison County, Texas, Oct. 22, 1860. She married Mr. Hall in 1891(sic.) One son was born that died in infancy. Mr Hall preceded her in death 22 years ago. Funeral services were held at Liberty.)

Higginbotham, D. F. - b. 19 Jan. 1873, d. 13 Aug. 1925 (Obituary - D. F. Higginbotham, former well known citizen of the Bonanza community, died on Aug. 13, 1925, in San Angelo where his family went several months ago on account of this health. Born in Rains County, east of Emory, Texas, Jan. 19, 1873. The remains were brought back to Sulphur Springs and carried to Liberty where burail took place. He was 52 years old and leaves a wife, one son, and five daughters. One child preceded him death. In his youthful age he moved from near Emory to Bonanza, in Hopkins County. He married Miss Mary Campbell in the year 1902.)

She was in her usual good health when arising early in the day and ate breakfast as usual. Services and burial are to be at Liberty ( Daily News-Telegram, Mon. Aug. 2, 1926) Later reported - She was born Oct. 23, 1866, in Alabama, and was married to J. R. Mixon at Rayville, Louisiana, Oct. 30, 1882. To this union were born fourteen children, four boys and ten girls, seven having preceded their mother to the better world. She leaves the husband, J. R. Mixon, and seven children, Mrs. Bettie Owens, Mrs. Flossie Wright, Miss Zelia Mixon, of Arbala; Mrs. Irene Garrett, Shamrock, Texas; Mrs. Sallie Key, Roby, Texas; Mr. Curtis Mixon, Giles, Texas; Mr. Claud Mixon, Goodnight, Texas; two brothers, A. C. Taylor of Arbala, and Luther Taylor of near Mantua, Alabama. She became a member of the Methodist Church when a child, and after her marriage she joined the Missionary Baptist Church of which she remained until her death, Aug. 2, 1926. She, with her husband and family, moved from Delhi, Louisiana, to Arbala, Texas, about 25 years ago. Services were held at Liberty church by Elder L. A. Stidham, her pastor, and was laid to rest in the cemetery at that place beside three of her children buried there.
