Mrs. H. E. Runnels
Mrs. Emma Braeutigam Runnels, 70, wife of H. .E. Runnels, died Thursday night Hays County Memorial Hospital after a short il1ness. The funora1 service was held at the home in which she had lived 41 years, Saturday afternoon with Rev. H. S. Goodenough, pastor of the First Methodist Church officiating.
The decedent was born in Gillespie County and had been married more than 51 years. She had lived in San Marcos fifty years. She was the mother of nine daughters, two of whom, Mrs. Doss Butler and Mrs. Tom Baldwin died in 1918 within 20 days of one another. She is survived by her husband, and the seven daughters who survive her are: Mrs. Jim Forsythe of Forest Hill, La.; Mrs. Howard Swift of Uvalde; Mrs. A S. Smith of Topeka, Kansas; Mrs Fred Geyer of San Antonio; Mrs. Walter Howard of San Marcos; Mrs. Garnett Smith of Lucas, Kentucky , and Mrs. Don Beasley of San Marcos. There are 31 living grand-children and five great-grandchildren; one
sister, Mrs. Will Corby of Jewett, Texas, and two brothers, Otto and Henry Braeutigam, both of Fredericksburg.
The active pall bearers were J. R. Wilhelm, Noy Oldham, Garland Smith, Merton Swift, W. E. Jones, Mac Wren, W. N. Joiner and R. F. Magruder. The honorary pall bearers were: Will Ezelle, Led Ezelle, Charles Rudorf, W. B. Colbert, I. W. Wood, S. R. Kone, G. A. Rogers, C. T. Bass and I. H. Harrison.
