Norvell, James
Nov. 1, 2007 - James Norvell, of Fairview, died suddenly Monday morning at the
age of 67 years. He was born Nov. 7, 1939 in Lodi, Calif. and raised both in
McKinney and Whitewright. He graduated from Whitewright High School in 1958 then
served his country in the U.S. Navy as an electrician aboard the U.S.S. Keppler,
DDE 765 from then until 1962.
He married Lynette (Dockery) Norvell his wife of 49 years on Sept. 13, 1958 in
Durant, Okla. They lived in Leonard for sixteen years where he was a member and
Master Mason of the Grove Hill Lodge #373. He also helped establish and served
as president of the Leonard Jaycee organization. He and Lynette moved to Allen
in 1979 where he worked as an electrician. He acquired his Masters Electrician
License and he and his wife owned and operated Mega Electric Co. Inc. in Allen
until his retirement in 2001.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in McKinney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie L. Anderson and his
sister Gwen Wade.
He is survived by his wife Lynette of Fairview and their daughter Sherri Davis
of Dallas and Cozumel, Mexico, two nieces, two nephews, one aunt, one uncle and
a number of cousins.
Services will be held Friday, Nov. 2, at 10 a.m. at the Earnheart Funeral Chapel
in Whitewright. Officiating the service will be Dr. Frank E. Mace and Mr.
Charles Wrenn. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright. A
visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral
chapel. Memorials may be made to the Leonard Preservation League, Leonard, Texas
or to the Divers Alert Network, Durham, NC.
