Obituaries
Patricia Joan Hoelzel
Pat died of a massive heart attack at Red River Regional Hospital during a CT
Scan imaging. She was admitted the prior night for what appeared to be stomach
virus and dehydration. She was a graduate of North Dallas High School and the
University of Texas in Austin and mother of four grown children.
She was a Proverbs 31 woman as evidenced by the love of her children and her
husband for her, and by her love for her Lord. That love came from a very
special relationship with each member of the Godhead, Father, Son, and Spirit.
She was basically a Melancholic temperament, very creative and artistic (she
loved owning and managing her various women's gift shops), and a genius in
simple and persuasive oratory. She was a passionate and productive advocate to
help groups make the lives of persons with mental illness better able to reach
their full potential.
Her primary goal was to raise four Godly children and she used a wonderful blend
of simple Godly instruction, accountability, love, and consequences to achieve
her goal.
Two of our four children experienced mental illness. As we learned how to cope
with this she plowed much energy into providing answers and encouragement in
both local and state level efforts through The Alliance On Mental Illness.
When our second son Michael died on 2/24/2003 my wife's face lit up when it
dawned on her that Michael right then no longer had mental illness, just perfect
wellness in the presence of the Lord.
If he were here right now he would certainly tell you how to be saved and
experienced eternal life. As of today, you can meet my wonderful wife Pat as
well. If you ask Jesus into your life as your savior you have God's word on it
that you will get to meet our Michael and Pat in heaven.
"For God loved the world SO MUCH that He GAVE His only Son, so that whoever
chooses to believe in Him should not perish, but experience everlasting Life."
Pat leaves behind her diabetes, other crippling illnesses, and the following
family members: husband John Hoelzel, Sr. of Ivanhoe, children John Jr. of
Carrollton, Molly Goodson and husband Joe of Rosebud, and Shawn Hoelzel and wife
Karen of Frisco, and their children Ben, Blake, and Aubin. Her son Michael
Hoelzel preceded her in death. Her niece is Allison Morrison and husband Ricky
of New Mexico.
A funeral service was conducted by Rev. Joe Goodson and Rev. Craig Vance on
Wednesday, May 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Cooper-Sorrells Chapel in Bonham. Interment
followed in Lamasco Cemetery.
The family received friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday night at Cooper-Sorrells
Funeral Home in Bonham.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to NAMI Grayson, Fannin, Cooke
Counties (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill); 1276 CR 2620; Ivanhoe,TX
75447 to help improve services for persons with mental illness. ~ ~ ~ Bonham
