William Newton Wright was called Newt and was in the Confederate army. "William Newton Wright was best friends and a neighbor to Standmore H. Allen. They made a pact that if one of them was killed in the Civil War, that the other would bring the body back to be buried in the family cemetery. Three days after the war was over, they were on the way home and were ambushed. Standmore H. Allen was killed. William Newton Wright survived, stole a horse and wagon and brought Standmore H. Allen’s body home."
