Faye
Fowler passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday,
January 30, 2008 at the age of 99 in
Denton,
Texas. She was born December 24, 1908 in Longview,
Texas of pioneer East
Texas parents, Douglas and
Luna
Sample. She was an accomplished musician and seamstress.
Active in school orchestra and band in addition to civic
activities, she graduated from Longview High School. When she
married Eugene
Fowler, Sr. March 1, 1931, the new family moved from
Longview to
Denton TX. Her career as a homemaker was accentuated by
unwavering interest in her children’s education and the career
of her husband as manager of a local variety store. She was
active in church activities and the Arts and
Crafts division of the
Shakespeare Club. In later years she expanded her
seamstress talent to the art of quilting. She made by hand
full sized quilts for each of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by sons Eugene
Fowler, Jr. and wife Kay, Joel
Fowler and wife Charlotte and daughter Judy
Scruggs and husband Terry, six grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren. Her husband passed away in January 1990.
Following a private burial at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in
Denton
Texas Saturday, February 1, a Memorial service will be
held at 2:00 pm Saturday afternoon at the First
Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1424
Stuart Road, in
Denton, with Rev. John
Lindsay, officiating. She was a great mother. The family
sincerely appreciates the care provided by the professional
staff at
Senior Care Health and Rehabilitation Center in
Denton during her stay there. Memorials in lieu of flowers
may be made to the First
Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mulkey-Mason, Jack
Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust,
Denton, in charge of arrangements.
