Boren, Lillian Relatrice
Last rites were observed at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at graveside in the Blue
Ridge Cemetery for Lillian Relatrice Boren, 91, a Blue Ridge resident who died
Sept. 22 in the Leonard Nursing Home.
Officiating was the Rev. Rick Riddle, and arrangements were made by the
Fielder-Baker Funeral Home of Blue Ridge.
Mrs. Boren was a retired nurse. She was born in Blue Ridge on March 16, 1908,
the daughter of Stephen and Virginia Hockett Box. She married Ira Boren on
June 1, 1929.

Mrs. Box
Last rites were observed at 2 p.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church
of Blue Ridge, of which she was a member, for Edna Lorene Box, 90, who died
last Tuesday, Jan. 18, in Dallas. At the time of her death she resided in the
C. C. Young Memorial Home in Dallas.
The rites were conducted by the Rev. Charles Hahn, and interment was in the
Blue Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home
of Blue Ridge.
Mrs. Box was the mother of Blue Ridge Mayor Frances Slater.
She was born in Dallas on Sept. 26, 1909, the daughter of Edgar Herschel and
Katie Bell Alexander Porter. She married John D. Box in Tyler on Dec. 24,
1926, and was a homemaker who resided in Blue Ridge for many years.
Surviving besides her daughter are a sister, Gladys Richey, and a brother, W.
L. Porter, both of Tyler, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

OBITUARY Mrs. Rosa Calhoun
BLUE RIDGE - Services for Mrs. Rosa Calhoun of Princeton, 83-year-old
housewife who died Wednesday at Wysong Hospital in McKinney, will be held at
2:30 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Blue Ridge. Burial will be in
Blue Ridge Cemetery, directed by Fielder-Baker Funeral Home.
Mrs. Calhoun was born in East Texas, a daughter of George L. and Mary Frances
Driggers, and married Oscar Calhoun. She was a member of the First Baptist
Church of Blue Ridge. Surviving are her son, Darvis Calhoun of Rowlett;
sister, Mrs. Geneva Rich of McKinney; brother, Chester Driggers of Leonard;
three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family will be at the
funeral home from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral service were held
at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Blue Ridge First Baptist for Mrs. Rosa Lee Calhoun,
82, native and lifelong resident of East Collin county, who died last
Wednesday in a McKinney hospital. The rites were conducted by the Reverends,
Peck Williams and Barry Beames, and interment was in the Blue Ridge Cemetery
under the direction of the Fielder-Baker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Roland Driggers, Alfred Scott, Kenneth Thacker, Phil Herron,
Everett Harmon, and Keith Williams. Mrs. Calhoun was born in the Boggy
Community between Farmersville and Blue Ridge Dec. 25, 1901. She was the
daughter of George L. and Mary Frances Driggers. She was a charter member of
the First Baptist Church at Blue Ridge. She was married to Oscar Calhoun Nov.
6, 1920 at Blue Ridge and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, Darvis Calhoun of Rowlett; three grandchildren and one
great-grandchild; a sister Mrs. Geneva Rich of McKinney and a brother, Chester

Cook , Mary Kathryn
Mary Kathryn Cook, 84, of Blue Ridge passed away Jan. 24, 2003 in Blue Ridge.
Born Jan. 3, 1919 to Les and Iva Nelson McCarley, she was a life-long resident
of Blue Ridge.
She was married to Benny T. Cook in 1940 and was an English teacher. She
taught in Blue Ridge, Bland and Farmersville ISDs as well as Collin County
Community College in McKinney until 2002. She was a member of First Baptist
Church of Farmersville.
She is survived by daughter, Sue Criswell-Hudak of Atlanta, Ga.; son John
Leslie Cook of Blue Ridge; nine grandchildren: Beth Criswell-Kaduboski, Brice
Criswell, Jennifer Cook-Natto, Leslie Ann Cook-Nelson, Andrew Benjamin Hudak,
Lauren Hudak and Jaqueline Hudak; great-grandchildren Meryl Kaduboski and
Ethan Nelson; and brother Dr. L.B. McClarley of McKinney.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Jan. 27 at First Baptist Church in Farmersville
with Rev. Woody Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge
Cemetery.
Dickerson, Jerry "Bo"
FARMERSVILLE — Jerry "Bo" Dickerson, 72, of Alba died April 18, 2008. Funeral
services are at 2 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church in Blue Ridge with
Rev. Randy Bird and Rev. Billy Harris officiating. Burial is in Blue Ridge
Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hurst’s Fielder-Baker
Funeral Home in Farmersville. The son of William Franklin and Sarah Belcher
Dickerson, he was born Oct. 19, 1935, in Kaufman County. On Nov. 30, 1957, he
married Nancy Sanders Dickerson in Murphy. Mr. Dickerson served in the U.S.
Army. He was a farrier and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Mr.
Dickerson is survived by his wife of Alba; a daughter, Terry Ritter of
Farmersville; sons Bubba Dickerson of Commerce, Bill Dickerson of Wills Point
and Tony Dickerson of Blue Ridge; a brother, Dub Dickerson of Wylie; sisters

Downing, Hershel Albert
Funeral services
for Hershel Albert Downing, 88, of McKinney, were held July 28, 2009, at the
Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home in McKinney.
Interment followed at the Blue Ridge Cemetery in Blue Ridge. The Rev. Rob
Gore officiated. Mr. Downing died July 24 in McKinney. He was born Aug. 29,
1920, in Blytheville, Ark., to Benjamin David Downing and Estelle Lillian
Powers Downing.
He worked for the United Autoworkers for General Motors. He also served in
the U. S. Army. Mr. Downing is survived by his wife, Doris Downing of
McKinney; children, Lynn Palmer and husband Jerry of Blue Ridge, Elaine Aikey
and husband Frank of Greenville, Terri Harwell and husband James of
Richardson, David Downing and wife Teresa of Gatesville, Karen Sykes and
husband Kim of Garland, Ted Downing and wife Linda of Wylie and Ron Downing of
Blue Ridge. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren
and two great-great grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home in
McKinney.
Fonville, Virginia Ruth
Virginia Ruth Fonville, 60, of Westminster, passed
away Aug. 11, 2002, in Westminster. She was born June 6, 1942 in Braceville,
Ohio, to Robert and Ruth Frazier Younger. She married Johnnie “Bud” Fonville
in McKinney on Oct. 8, 1981. She was a waitress and of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her husband Johnnie “Bud” Fonville of Westminster;
daughters Darlene Naquin of Melville, La., Jannie Cruz of Melissa, Teresa
Harris of Princeton, Shelly Smith of Westminster; sons Donnie Fonville of
Princeton, Ronnie Anderson and James Anderson of DeSoto and Johnnie Fonville
and Tim Anderson of Blue Ridge; sisters Donna Lawrence of Leavittsburg, Ohio,
Blanche King of Courtland, Ohio and Louise Bone of Princeton; brother Albert
Younger of Mineral Wells; 22 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 13 at Blue Ridge Baptist Church in
Blue Ridge with Rusty Bowles and Rev. Johnnie Jones officiating. Interment
followed at Blue Ridge Cemetery. Visitation with the family was from 6-8 p.m.
Aug. 12 at Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville.
Garner, Evalyn
Graveside services for Evalyn Garner, 81, of Blue
Ridge will be held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 14, 2002, at the Blue Ridge Cemetery.
Garner passed away Aug. 11, 2002, at the Leonard Care Center in Leonard.
She was born Jan. 10, 1921, to Thomas Luther Russell and Emma Mekhim Russell.
She belonged to St. Michael’s Catholic Church in McKinney and was a retired
hospital clerk.
Garner is survived by her sister, Beatrice McCarley of Blue Ridge and several
nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Taylor Funeral Home in Leonard is in
charge of the arrangements.
Goodwin, Pearl Cameron
Funeral services for Agnes Pearl Cameron Goodwin, 86, of Kaufman were held
April 26, 2008, at the Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville.
Interment followed at the Blue Ridge Cemetery. Frank Alexander officiated.
Mrs. Goodwin died April 23 in Kaufman. She was born on April 12, 1922, to
Homer Lonzo and Minnie Pruett Cameron. She married Edwin Hollis Goodwin on
June 14, 1943, in Durant, Okla. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church
of Christ in Blue Ridge. Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Tarpley of
Kaufman, and Vicky Farmer of Sunnyvale; son, Mike Goodwin of Quinlan; sisters,
Pauline Edwards and Betty Terry; six grandchildren and eight great

of Pennsylvania; his mother and stepfather, Evelyn and Loc Nguyen of Nevada; a

Kent, Benton Alfred
July 16, 2009 - Funeral services for Benton Alfred Kent, 89 year old Pike
resident, were held Tuesday, July 14th, 10 a.m. at the Pike Baptist Church.
Rev. Harvey Neatherlin and Rev. Ricky Riddle officiated. Burial was in the
Blue Ridge Cemetery. Family visitation was held Monday, July 13th from 6-8
p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel in Leonard. He passed away at
his residence Friday evening, July 10th, 2009.
Mr. Kent was born December 30, 1919 at Blue Ridge. His parents were Edgar
Benton and Altha Oneida Box Kent. He was a dairyman and rancher and a member
of the Pike Baptist Church.
He is survived by his nephew and wife, Alfred and Kim Scott of Pike; niece,
Joyce Scott of Pike; great nieces and their husbands, Elizabeth and Zanne
Christman and Sarah and Shannon Congleton of Leonard; great-nephew, Mathew
Scott of Pike; aunt, Artis Cummings of Farmersville and his special friend
Hugh Peace of Blue Ridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Altha Box Kent; sisters,
Audrey Scott and Freda Kent and nephews, Rickey and Dickey Scott.

for Ronald Eugene Murry Sr., 73, of Allen, were held July 27, 2009, at Blue
Ridge Cemetery in Blue Ridge.
Mr. Murry was a former resident of Blue Ridge.
Mr. Murry was born June 7, 1936, in Oklahoma City, Okla. to William and Virgie
Wooldridge Murry. He married Anita Black May 31, 1962, in Dallas.
Mr. Murry was a security guard for an armored transport company.
He is survived by children, Linda Gray of Balch Springs, Alecia Gray of
Trinidad, Terry Conley of Garland and Ronald E. Murry Jr. of Allen; brothers,
Bill Barton of Del City, Okla., Henry Murry of Anadarko, Okla., and James
Murry of Guthrie, Okla., 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home in
Farmersville.

Funeral services for
Edward “Slick” Weldon Richardson, 88, were held Aug. 17, 2009, at the First
Baptist Church of Blue Ridge followed by interment at the Blue Ridge Cemetery.
Services were officiated by the Rev. Rick Riddle and Rev. Brian Hawkins.
Mr. Richardson was born May 22, 1921, to Jolly and Mary Stonecipher Richardson
in Valdasta.
He died Aug. 13 at the Homestead Nursing Home in McKinney.
Mr. Richardson married Leona Box May 22, 1948, in Decatur.
He was a dairy man, a member of the First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge and a
World War II Army veteran.
Mr. Richardson is survived by his wife, Leona Richardson; son, Dwayne
Richardson, both of Blue Ridge and grandson, Judson Richardson.
Services were under the direction of Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home in
Farmersville.

Funeral services for Jennifer Lynn Tatum-Boyette, 28, of Blue Ridge were held
May 20, 2008, at Blue Ridge Baptist Church in Blue Ridge. Interment followed

Mrs. Johnson died May 16 in Blue Ridge. She was born Jan. 24, 1980, in Reno,
Nev., to Guy and Connie Healy Tatum.
She was self employed, and attended the Blue Ridge Baptist Church. She married
James Boyette on Nov. 20, 2003, in Sherman.
Survivors include her husband James Boyette of Blue Ridge; parents, Tim and
Connie McCarley of Blue Ridge; sisters, Sylvia Gaulden of Leonard, Timra

married James Boyette in Sherman. Self-employed, Mrs. Tatum-Boyette was a
member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband; her

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, in the First Baptist
Church of Blue Ridge for Berlin Imogene Webb, 80, a resident of Pflugerville
who died Jan. 18 in Austin.
Officiating was the Rev. Brian Edmonds, and interment was in the Blue Ridge
Cemetery under the direction of Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home of Blue
Ridge.
Mrs. Webb had spent most of her life in Blue Ridge. She was a native of Utica,
Okla., where she was born on Sept. 17, 1919, the daughter of Oscar and Hazel
Sanderson Reynolds. She married Truman Webb in Blue Ridge on Oct. 5, 1940, and
was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Pflugerville.
Survivors include two sons, Dois Webb of Pflugerville and Mike Webb of
Burkburnett; two sisters, Bobbie Thurman of Celeste and Vonda Perry of
Evansville, Ind.; a brother, Glen Reynolds of San Antonio, six grandchildren
and five great grandchildren.
