Maurice Joe Birdwell, 81, of Texarkana, Texas, died Tuesday, August 15,2006 in a local hospital.
Mr. Birdwell was born May 19,1925 in Dexter, N.M. He was a retired park ranger for Chamizal El Paso and a retired movie projectionist for IATSE. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Birdwell   of Texarkana; three stepchildren, Hope Burks of Texarkana, Rose Guzman of Houston and Jonathan  Guzman of Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister, Florine Kingsley of Austin; three grandchildren, Mark Hunter Reck of Hutchinson, Kan., Summer Reck of Texarkana and Rachel Brumbaugh of Houston; one cousin  and cousin-in-law, Ruth and Carl Deaning of Frankston, Texas; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 10a.m. Friday at Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas with John Hall officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery with Monsignor Gerald Priest officiating. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
