Hubbard Cemetery
Anderson Co. Cemeteries of TX
Submitted by Judy Mount
Hubbard Cemetery is an African American Cemetery still being used today.
Located South of Palestine, Tx
about 5 miles on Hwy 287/19 (Crocket Road) toward Elkhart.
The only sign is a road sign that says Reed Hubbard Cemetery with an
arrow pointing right. The
cemetery is up half a mile or so from the highway on an old country road.
The headstones are on a hill
off the side of the road. An earlier survey stated there was a crude barbed
wire fence on three sides. I did not see this fence.
There are many obvious graves without markers. I was told by a local
Mortuary that the people buried in the Hubbard Cemetery were from the town of
Beulah which is just down the road from the cemetery.
I went to Beulah and the only thing I could find was a church that said
Beulah Baptist Church and a few houses. I'll
contact someone there and see what I can find out.
