Chaffin graves Douthit graves

The cemetery is small with a chain link fence across the front side near the highway.  The back side is wooded thick with brush.  Most of the cemetery itself appears reasonably well tended.  There are many unmarked graves.  The oldest grave is that of Evan Douthit, died 1849.  We assume that it started as a family cemetery.  The information in (  ) is notes or clarification.  Other information came from the tombstone.

I believe the grave that has brick around it and has a broken headstone is either Henderson James Douthit 1825-18 June 1886( son of Johnathan Douthit and Rebecca Childers/Husband of Malissa Ann Parker) or Melissa Ann Parker 20 July 1826-23 May 1892. They are
both  buried here. Thenk You Jo Ann Pipkin Londot

Directions: From the intersection of Loop#256 South and Hwy #287 in Palestine, TX, travel south toward Elkhart for 4.6 miles.  There is a cemetery designation sign on the right, but the cemetery is on the left side of the highway.  It is easy to miss.
